Bah Humbug Say Dialects

Published:

When MVM wanted to not go to the work’s Christmas do, we booked the day off. These boys did something more proactive.

Escaping a really dire Christmas party – This was the premise under which Conor (guitar), Steve (guitar) and Jonathan (drums) first went into a rehearsal space and made simultaneous loud noises. With material Conor had been writing since his previous band ended the trio began creating fledgling pieces of music that would eventually become the songs that comprise debut EP “LTKLTL”.

The addition of bassist Ali happened several months later after Steve had asked him if he knew any that might be into the material they were writing. Naming themselves Dialects the now complete 4 piece started writing and rehearsing regularly building up an abundance of material spanning various genres of prog math and post-rock, taking influence from the likes of And So I Watch You From Afar, Brontide and Maybeshewill.

Since their live debut in August 2013 Dialects have shared stages with a host of amazing bands including Maybeshewill, LITE, Mutiny on the Bounty, The Physics House Band, Jean Jean, United Fruit, Flood of Red & The Polar Dream.

Debut EP “LTKLTL” was engineered, mixed and mastered by Glasgow producer Nick Lawrie (Vukovi, Prides) and is set for release on 11th May. ‘Restless Earth’ is the first taster of the EP. According to the band:

“Restless Earth tells the start of the story behind the EP. A couple who travel from Utopia in another universe only to arrive in our world, young again and with the chance to have another life together. But really it’s just portals and sh*t.
