BAND OF THE DAY: BLACKRAIN

Published:

Foremost French sleaze rockers Black Rain have inked with Steamhammer / SPV to release their stonking sixth studio album ‘Dying Breed’ on September 13th as a Digipak CD, 140 gram red with white swirls vinyl LP (+ CD in a cardboard case), download and stream. The album’s catchy, hook laden title track, ‘Dying Breed’ has just been released as a single – check the video out at https://youtu.be/h3O5q65VvaE

Blackrain, who were formed in the French Alps in 2006, have subsequently honed their sound down on the road with countless headline concerts in France, Europe, Japan and even Tunisia, let alone support slots with the likes of Europe, Papa Roach, Alice Cooper, Scorpions, Steel Panther and Ugly Kid Joe.

Blackrain, who have just wowed the mainstage crowd at Hellfest 2019, have lined up a European tour with Kissin’ Dynamite in October, calling in to the UK to play at London’s Camden Underworld on October 18th.

Composed and recorded in Sweden where front man Swan has permanently settled, ‘Dying Breed’ bemoans the death of so many of the band’s idols who made rock history. It’s also the band’s response when asked by people why they still wear old-fashioned long hair; “We feel like a dying breed.”

‘Dying Breed’ was recorded with Swedish producer Chris Laney, who produced the band’s highly acclaimed second album ‘License To Thrill’ in 2008. Having made their last two albums with US producer Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, John Lennon), Blackrain re-united with Laney, widely acknowledged as having captured the best sound of the band ever on ‘License To Thrill’. Blackrain also decided to go back to their roots and compose songs they would love to hear on the radio today; catchy and heady hard rock hits.

Blackrain were rated by Classic Rock Magazine as one of the ten biggest French rock bands of all time alongside Trust, Gojira, Mass Hysteria etc. in November 2016 – www.loudersound.com/features/10-of-the-best-rock-bands-from-france

For more than ten years, Blackrain have ended most of their shows by covering AC/DC’s ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock’n’Roll’). Now ‘Dying Breed’, a barnstorming collection of romping metal anthems is finally set to catapult Blackrain all the way to the top of the hard rock tree.

Line-Up:

Swan Hellion – vocals, guitar

Max 2 – lead guitar

Matthieu de la Roche – bass

Frank F – drums
