Essex based southern/blues rock quartet, HATFIELD RISING, release a new single Tennessee Honey on Friday 24th August 2018.
The single is taken from their EP – Possessions or Money and will be available through all reputable streaming and download services.
The single is accompanied on Weds 22nd Aug by a fresh new graphic-based lyric video produced by Unit 15 Productions.
Tennessee Honey was recorded during a week’s studio session. Lead vocalist, Rory Taylor takes up the story… “Tennessee Honey isn’t a serious song, it’s about a guy who enjoys indulgence and buggers up life along the way. We don’t want to sound like a Texan southern band, we want to sound like a British southern band. It’s the same music, but it’s dealing with British themes. Of course, Tennessee Honey is from Tennessee, but it can be drunk anywhere and there ain’t anybody who can enjoy a drink like the English”.
“The song has a simple structure but it is also quite complex. The opening riff is a 2-bar idea over 2 chords. The part that makes it stand out is the bass riff, giving it much more punch.”
“The verse was all about bringing the rhythm off the straight beat. It helps make the song feel loose, it helps us bring out that ‘southern’ style in the track. Stuart’s drums are powerful throughout, but his timing is what makes this track interesting. We deliberately recorded part of the song to a click track and the rest we recorded organically. This adds to the whole feel of the song, being a bit boozy, a bit loose and just makes you want to get your dancing shoes on.”
