Rejuvenated Cornish prog-psych band THE BRAINIAC 5 herald the release of a new album this week with a video.

The track ‘Drinking Song’ is the opening cut from We’re Ready!, their second album this year, following hot on the heels of the acclaimed Journey To X, released in January.
The Brainiac 5 emerged out of the fertile South West free festival scene of the mid-70s, releasing two singles, an EP and an album produced by Hawkwind’s Martin Griffin. Although presaging the early 80s psych revival, coming to the attention of John Peel and Alex Chilton, they split in 1981.

Their third album of new material since reforming in 2012, We’re Ready! is the last Brainiac 5 album to feature founding bassist Woody, who’s since retired from the band, being replaced by Wayne Worrell.
The Brainiac 5 play The Gunners, Blackstock Road, London on Friday 13 October.
We’re Ready! is available now on Reckless Records from and through Shellshock Distribution.
