Ben Hemming, at the forefront of the U.K. Nu-Blues scene, is set to release new acoustic version of ‘Dark Deals’ on February 15th. This will be the first single from a new EP of acoustic sessions set for release in the summer.

Building on the success of 2020’s landmark album ‘Broken Road’ described as “A thunderous record… While this may be for those who prefer meatier sounds, it is still a very, very strong album.” by Maverick Magazine, Ben Hemming has returned to the studio to craft a release that harks back to his acoustic roots with a series of stripped back recordings that expose the depth and richness of his voice and guitar playing.

‘Dark Deals’ is defiantly a progression for me, but it has at it’s core the roots music that has shaped my career. It has an underlying Americana vibe that speaks of inner turmoil in a voice speaking in the third person. But it’s also about recognising your faults and excepting them, for making you the person that you are.’

Recorded in Masterlink Productions in Surrey with producer James Welch at the controls, the song was recorded over the space of two days with a collection of tracks with simple arrangements of acoustic guitar and piano that gave the material a chance to breathe, away from the trappings of studio wizardry, and exposing the strength and depth of the song writing and Hemming’s vocal performances.

‘I wanted to give people a stripped down and emotive rendition of the song, similar to how I first played and wrote it. Without any of the pressure of a high-end studio, just an honest and raw performance that defines who I am as an artist.’

‘Dark Deals’
is an understated record but showcases Ben Hemming’s powerful songwriting and vocal talents, a sign of great things to come in 2021.
