GO AWOL

Published:

From AWOLNATION’s home to yours, a personal live experience from the studio.  The band releases Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders Live From 2020, the version of their latest album of the same name performed live in-studio, on November 20th. Along the release will be a full livestream video experience of the album on YouTube at 7pm EST.

With the pandemic still affecting live music, AWOLNATION’s new album gives fans the chance to hear the band perform live especially since they are best known for their energetic live performances. The entire new album was recorded in-studio, live with a full band and no backing tracks added. It features all instrumentation and arrangements that have creative flourishes plus the fervent energy that AWOLNATION fans have come to expect from them

After wildfires burned down his previous studio, Aaron rebuilt the space and much of the new music was recorded there. The fire became a source of inspiration for the new songs. Aaron was equally motivated by the idea of giving fans a front-to-back live representation of the new album. Each live song has an accompanying performance video shot and edited to create a completely unique visual. These videos will premiere all together on their YouTube on November 20th at 7pm ET.

The new record continues the concept and success of the album Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders centering on the struggle between Good (‘Lightning Riders’) and Evil (Angel Miners’). Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders Live From 2020 is the next step in continuing down that road of exploring that age-old theory. The accompanying multi-media web series “Bottled Lightning”, which has been released weekly on AWOLNATION’s Instagram, will be premiered in full on Youtube on November 23rd.

Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders, was released in April 2020 to great success, reaching #1 on iTunes Alternative Charts in the US, Canada, Sweden, Germany, and Finland. Guest artists on tracks from the album include Alice Merton (on “The Best”), Rivers Cuomo (on “Pacific Coast Highway”) and Grouplove (“Radical” released October 23).

Singer Aaron Bruno speaking about his collaboration with Grouplove said  “‘Radical’ is just a sarcastic notion, a fun rock anthem about saying that I never claimed to be anything. It’s just a kind of uplifting sort of rock song for everyone, I’ve always been impressed by Grouplove’s energy anytime we shared the stage and we have always flirted with the idea of a collaboration. I’m so happy we finally made this happen, and their voices feel like a perfect fit!”

On The Best with Alice Merton Aaron said “I was very excited to have Alice join me on this song,” recorded during lockdown in March 2020 he added “I’m glad that we were able connect to create this new version, even though we are in different parts of the world.”

On Pacific Coast Highway in the Movies Arron talked about how the Rivers Cuomo of Weezer collaboration came about “I’ve loved Rivers and Weezer since I was 15. We met in Canada at a festival, stayed friends for several years, and worked on a few things together. Nothing ever came of it, but when I had this song, it just screamed Rivers, so I asked him if he would join me on it and he did. I’m so proud to have his name on this record.”
