Swedish progressive rock instrumentalists GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA have recently released their 5th studio album “ET EX” via InsideOutMusic worldwide.
Now, the group has launched a rehearsal video of the track “Square 5”, which can be seen here:
Next up, GBS will be playing a special Stockholm hometown show at the classic Södra Teatern venue together with Henrik Palm this weekend on Sunday, December 2nd.
Additionally, GBS have also been announced to appear at the next edition of Roadburn Festival, taking place April 11-14th, 2019 in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
The band will appear there as part of “The Burning Darkness”, an event curated At The Gates/Disfear frontman Tomas Lindberg, who commented about the addition of GBS as follows:
“Nordic darkness. Desperate, melancholic Nordic darkness. Gösta Berlings Saga can be described as a complex, yet dynamic, very dark Swedish progressive band. Their soundscapes are challenging, yet still memorable. And, live they are a total beast, a heavy prog beast from the North. Their use of Fender Rhodes pianos, Moog Taurus bass pedals and Mellotron sounds root them in the prog tradition, but their special brand is deeply rooted in Swedish melancholy and the avant-garde RIO tradition of Universe zero and the like. Hypnotic, soulful, captivating, beautiful, yet dissonant, there are many ways to describe the mystery of their unique greatness. For me it is the emotional heaviness that strikes me as their speciality, not over using their technical abilities (read: not showing off with mind-twisting time changes and long solos), but focusing on the soul of the songs. If you are familiar with other Swedish prog greats such as Änglagård and Landberk, you won´t be disappointed. For me, they were a no-brainer for my curation, as I see them as one of the most interesting bands in Sweden today. Get ready to be blown away!”
