JARET’S FRANK TALK

Published:

Following the recent announcement of his new online series Happy Hour HangtimeBowling For Soup frontman Jaret Reddick is delighted to confirm a very special guest for next weeks show – none other than Frank Turner!

One of Jaret’s favourite musical artists of all time, arena filling folk rocker Frank Turner is one of many artists to be name dropped in the Bowling For Soup song catalogue. Jaret and Frank have become friends in recent years, and over the course of lockdown have been holding a weekly catch up on Instagram live every Tuesday, discussing music they mutually love and much more.

Happy Hour Hangtime is a series of shows taking place every Thursday in August. Each show will feature a special guest, and help raise money for a different charity each week, chosen by the special guests. The format of the shows are similar to the “song swap” format used in Country Music, with Jaret and his guests taking turns to perform songs, answer questions and swap tales over the course of a 90 minute show.

Frank Turner will be appearing alongside Jaret Reddick on the 20th of August on Happy Hour Hangtime at 10pm UK time / 5pm Eastern / 4pm Central / 2pm Pacific (same time for the show each week). Frank Turner has been very active over the course of lockdown helping to raise money for various UK venues with a series of streamed fundraising shows, raising an average of £10,000 per show to help each of the chosen venues.

Shows that have taken place already have included Jaret’s longtime friends The Dollyrots raising money for MusiCares and MEST frontman Tony Lovato raising funds and awareness for South Suburban Family Shelter.

Jaret himself is here to give you some more details on how the shows work:

“I have done so many streaming shows since quarantine to try and keep myself and others occupied. Happy Hour Hang Time is a bit different than a normal show you would see on social media. This show is part song swap (Myself and my guests take turns playing songs), part interview, and part just a plain ole laugh fest! Not to mention, it is a way for myself and my guests to support ourselves, as well as the charity of my guest’s choice, during this unprecedented time. 90 minutes of something the viewer will not see anywhere else…That’s a promise! “

Happy Hour Hangtime is taking place on the Veeps streaming platform (owned by none other than the Madden Brothers of Good Charlotte). As well as Frank Turner, Upcoming guests include Josh Fleming of The Vandoliers and Ryan Cabrera! The current schedule of shows is as follows:

13th August w/ Josh Fleming of The Vandoliers
20th August w/ Frank Turner
27th August w/ Ryan Cabrera

Shows are priced at $10 or $12 if you buy on the day of the show, and shows can be watched on demand through Veeps for 72 hours after the event. More information can be found on Jaret’s profile on the Veeps website.

Away from the world of streamed live shows, Bowling For Soup recently released their take on KID CUDI’s hit single “Erase Me.” For the cover, Bowling For Soup teamed up with their fellow Texan, Dallas hip hop rising star 10K.CAASH. Caash fills in for Kanye West’s original guest verses. The Lone Star State collaboration is the perfect fusion of pop-punk and hip-hop for a summer sing-along that will have listeners hitting repeat over and over.

The track is available to stream or download on SpotifyAmazon Music and Apple Music, and you can watch the video right now!

Bowling For Soup’s version of Erase Me is the band’s latest in a string of cover songs they’ve released over the last year, and follows their worldwide smash hit original single Alexa Bliss. In case you missed it, check them out below.
