Keep It In The Family

Theatrical punks Felix Hagan & The Family have released the video for their new single ‘Hey I Want You’, the latest single to be taken from their forthcoming debut album Attention Seeker released on November 24th.

The new song is a huge celebration of extravagant rock ‘n’ roll and plays as if Queen starred in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The video captures Felix Hagan & The Family performing at glitter-smacked underground party.

Regarding the single Felix says, “This is a noisy hymn to the people we love, a fast-paced, growling, glittery beast to brighten your eyes and grab you by the throat. Take a hold of that person you adore, and let’s dance.”

Felix and his band’s on-going mission is to cram British pop music with the exuberance and majesty of grandiose, flamboyant rock’n’roll. ‘Hey I Want You’ follows the release of the electro-rock stomper ‘Delirium Tremendous’, both taken from the forthcoming album.

Describing Attention Seeker, Felix says, Our signature sound is a very high-energy blend of glam, pop, disco and classic rock, so we will forever owe our style to Queen and Abba. But our defining influence is the world of musical theatre, the idea that songs are there to entertain, and should be as BIG as possible and never ever boring.”

He continues, “On this record we massively diversified our stylistic and production palette, and listened to all manner of things like D’Angelo, John Grant and the New York Dolls. We have our usual huge banging crowd pleasers, but we have plenty of more subtle and quieter songs to go with them. There’s something there for everyone.”

From the rock-stomping album opener ‘On The Double’ to the fabulously eccentric likes of ‘Gene Kelly’ and ‘Babe I Ain’t Coming’, Felix Hagan & The Family deliver a range of humour, intrigue and intelligent songwriting in one of the year’s most interesting records yet.

Delicate moments are found on ‘Burn Down This City’ and ‘Fall Away’, the latter Felix describes as one of, “the simplest I’ve ever written, and it was a particularly emotional one for me. It’s all about someone I knew who isn’t here any more, and it felt hugely cathartic to sing that song.”

Meanwhile on the title track he says, “‘Attention Seeker’, is my favourite of them all. It is the hymn for the eternal show-off, the cry of all those whose life hinges on the approval of others. And I absolutely love it.”

Attention Seeker finds Felix Hagan & The Family blending rock, pop and musical theatre into a giant sparkling monster. It’s time to put your dancing shoes on – the punks are waiting…
