KENNY TAKES THREE

Published:

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band have announced they will be coming to the UK in July for 3 shows calling at; Boiler Shop, Newcastle, the Leadmill, Sheffield and City Hall, Salisbury.

The 5 x Grammy Nominated Shepherd returns following their triumphant 2017 UK tour that included a co-headline performance at BluesFest, London and a headline performance on the Outlaw Country Stage at Ramblin’ Man Fair.

The most recent album, 2017s ‘Lay It On Down’, released on Provogue/Mascot Label Group, was met with widespread acclaim and saw Shepherd and his band in unstoppable momentum. Mojo referred to him as “Louisiana’s blues baron”, Classic Rock said “the Stratocaster rampages of old are tempered by thoughtful songcraft…fantastic”, The Guitar Magazine called the album “flawless”, Planet Rock Magazine said it was“Perfect summer driving album” whilst Guitarist said he was “A master of every genre he touches”.

The opening chapters of Shepherd’s journey started with the epiphany of meeting Stevie Ray Vaughan, the stage debut at 13 and the record deal at 16, with 1995’s million-selling debut album Ledbetter Heights laying down his calling-cards of soul-fingered fretwork and searingly honest songwriting. Even as early singles like Déjà Voodoo and Blue On Black infiltrated the US Top 10, and hysteria duly erupted around him, Shepherd’s artistic vision remained admirably mature on turn-of-the-millennium million-sellers like Trouble Is… (1997), Live On (1999) and The Place You’re In (2004). He has supported The Rolling StonesB.B. King, Van Halen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Bob Dylan and the Eagles amongst others, performs as part of the Experience Hendrix tour and is one third of supergroup The Rides with Stephen Stills  and Barry Goldberg.  The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band signed to Provogue/Mascot Label Group for 2014s ‘Goin’ Home,’ which was followed by ‘Lay It On Down’.

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band are a full force of nature live and these will be shows not to be missed.
