Graham Parker & The Rumour guitarist Brinsley Schwarz, who also gave his name to the ’70’s pub rock band of the same name, returns in 2020 with a single and news of a forthcoming solo album entitled ‘Tangled‘ to be released by Fretsore Records in the New Year.
Written by Brinsley five years ago, “Storm in the Hills” is laid back rock’n’roll with understated guitar solos and New Orleans piano from pianist James Hallawell. The song takes a wry, Newman-esque look at modern times, politics and climate change. Recorded at James Hallawell’s studio The Barn in West London, Brinsley sings and plays guitars, bass and hand drums.
During the early 1970’s, the ‘Brinsleys’ led a richly varied life, from opening up London’s pubs to supporting Paul McCartney & Wings on their first UK tour.  In 1975, the band broke up and individually went on to make their mark; Brinsley joined up to play guitar in The Rumour, Graham Parker’s well loved and respected backing band. He continued to play, record and produce with Graham through the 1980’s.
More recently, Brinsley played with friend and fellow Rumour guitarist, Martin Belmont, in Ducks Deluxe before joining a reformed Graham Parker & The Rumour to make two further studio albums. He also made his movie debut with Graham and the band in the 2012 Judd Apatow movie ‘This Is 40’ before going on to tour the USA, UK and Europe from 2012-2015 with a final gig at the O2 Kentish Town Forum on 17th Oct 2015.
Inspired during this revival and with a sudden outpouring of new songs, Brinsley and James Hallawell set about recording his first solo album, ‘Unexpected’. It was self-released quietly while on tour with Graham performing as ‘The Graham Parker Duo, Featuring Brinsley Schwarz’. Now, signing a two album deal with rising indie label Fretsore Records, Brinsley will release his second solo album ‘Tangled’ in 2021, with ‘Unexpected’ being re-released later in the year.
Released on 27th November 2020, fans can listen to the first track from ‘Tangled’,  “Storm in the Hills” here: https://linktr.ee/storminthehills
