Static In The (Live) Wires

Published:

On the heels of the largely sold out Static in the Wires tour, this dynamic transatlantic duo take to the road in 2018 for the Feet Don’t Fail Me tour, which begins with Celtic Connections in Glasgow and spans the majority of the UK, before concluding at the glorious Union Chapel in London.

Always engaging, though never predictable, these “musicians at the top of their game” (Music Riot) seek to push the boundaries of blues, folk and American roots music. Original compositions, harmony vocals, constant improvisation and good-humoured banter are the cornerstones of their live show. Both together and apart Martin and Daniel frequent the world’s stages, earning a combined experience that includes performances at Glastonbury, the Royal Albert Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, New Orleans Jazz Fest, the Blue Note Tokyo, the Transatlantic Sessions, Cognac Blues festival, and the Cayamo Cruise, among many others.

Martin grew up in South East London heavily influenced by the decades of blues music synonymous with the area since the 1960’s. From an early age Daniel performed in Appalachian and Bluegrass bands before studying double bass at East Tennessee University.

Their most recent album, Static in the Wires, was recorded in Nashville and follows their 2015 debut Live at Southern Ground. A “Spellbinding 50 minutes”, as The Observer put it. The album features 14-time Grammy winner Jerry Douglas along with Derek Mixon (Chris Stapleton) and Micah Hulsher (Alabama Shakes, Margo Price).
