STONE THE ROSE

Published:

April 13th marks the 40th anniversary of Thin Lizzy’s classic album, Black Rose: A Rock Legend…Containing the hit singles, ‘Do Anything You Want To’, ‘Waiting For An Alibi’ and ‘Sarah’ as well as the epic title track, it’s Lizzy’s most successful studio release and is generally cited as a creative peak for the band.

This summer Thin Lizzy will celebrate this milestone anniversary at Steelhouse Festival, playing the album in its entirety in an exclusive performance.

A repackaged 40th anniversary edition of the album is being released this week for Record Store Day. It contains the original album as well as a set of unheard (till now) demos of the record from Phil Lynott’ s archive. The album has enhanced artwork and a new cut has taken place of the record for the best audio quality.

Steelhouse Festival is offering one lucky Lizzy fan a copy of the vinyl edition signed by Scott Gorham. Head over to the Steelhouse Live FB page for details on how to enter and be in with a chance of winning.

Promoters Max Rhead and Mikey Evans commented, “What can you say about Thin Lizzy – one of the most iconic names with one of the greatest catalogues in the history of rock. Among that catalogue is ‘Black Rose’… From the unmistakable drum intro of ‘Do Anything You Want to’ to the epic title track, it’s an absolute classic. For Mr. Gorham to agree to celebrate its 40th anniversary and play it exclusively at Steelhouse 2019 is a truly special announcement for us. What a way to bring the curtain down on the 2019 edition of Steelhouse – a true classic played in full plus all those Lizzy hits.”

Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy said, “I am very happy to get Lizzy back together this summer – it’s always been my intention to keep the band going and bring the amazing catalogue of songs to old and new fans alike. Having an anniversary year in 2019 is an ideal time to put some shows in the diary”

Ricky Warwick added, “It’s great to be playing Steelhouse again – we all love this festival and to be asked for Thin Lizzy to headline the last night was a no brainer for us! To make the evening even more special we are playing the Black Rose album in its entirety as part of the set as a UK exclusive – which is great as it’s probably my favourite Thin Lizzy album”.

Scott concludes, “As It’s the 40th anniversary of that record, Steelhouse came to us with the idea of doing a Black Rose set – so how could we refuse!”
