BAND OF THE DAY: THE PIPE BROTHERS PROJECT

Published:

The Pipe Brothers Project is a new, all instrumental rock outfit formed by brothers Andrew & Jamie Pipe as a side project to their main band, the award winning UK rock band ‘The Mentulls’.

With already armfuls of experience between them, the brothers can boast playing and working alongside some of the musical greats and some of their all time heroes from grammy award winners to rock legends. Although still in their early 20s, they often stand up to be counted amongst many of the most experienced pros in the business.

Their new single “XLV” with it’s catchy melodies and rock tight groove was written and produced by Andrew & Jamie and engineered by John P Taylor. In the drum stool for the sessions was in demand session drummer Tim Hillsdon.

The brothers, whose work with their main band The Mentulls has been declared as “the future of prog rock” (Get Ready To Rock) take influence from the innovative and influential music of the 60s and 70s while keeping their feet firmly in the present.

Although it could be seen as a bold move to release purely instrumental music through this project, the brothers seem to relish the challenge, as Andrew explains “Although we love writing songs with lyrics, we always believe instrumental music can be as powerful as a great song. At the end of the day they are just songs without words, the right melody can be timeless and speak volumes”
