FROG CHORUS

Published:

The Waterboys have released their brand new single ‘(You’ve Got To) Kiss A Frog Or Two’, from their rave-reviewed new album Good Luck, Seeker on Cooking Vinyl.

The new video features Mike Scott and band members in humorous, psychedelic mode, and shows the whimsical side of Scott’s imagination; he directed the video himself. The starring role goes to backing vocalist Zeenie Summmers, a Nigerian singer based in Dublin who has been with The Waterboys for three years.

Scott says: “‘(You’ve Got To) Kiss A Frog Or Two’ is influenced by the great R&B music of the early 70s, that sexy “midnight soul” sound. Isaac Hayes, Sly Stone and Marvin are all in there. Our keyboard man, Brother Paul, who produced the instrumental track, worked in Memphis and played with Isaac Hayes and legends like Ann Peebles and Wilson Pickett, so he knows what he’s doing. We’re blessed to have him for what he brings to our sound.”

Good Luck, Seeker was released last month to rave reviews round the world. It has been hailed as a truly classic work from one of the most prolifically brilliant bands of our times and demonstrates an unstoppable creative energy, which has also seen the band produce an unprecedented string of striking videos to accompany the album including ‘Freak Street’‘The Golden Work’‘Dennis Hopper’, ‘The Soul Singer’, ‘Low Down In The Broom‘ and ‘Postcard From The Celtic Dreamtime‘.

One more video from this series will follow ‘(You’ve Got To) Kiss A Frog Or Two’ in the coming weeks, completing the visual companion piece to what is one of the most essential albums of The Waterboys’ remarkable career.
